Just about 10 minutes after he was born

Jack's first diaper change...He wasn't too thrilled!

Our new little family =-)

The recovery was a bit exhausting!

First night at home, so cozy! (He peed through this onesie about an hour after this picture haha)

Sooo cute...

Mommy and Jack

Jack is here!

Tuesday, November 16th (the day after all the Dean's left town...of course!) Jack decided to come into our lives! I woke up at 2 am with some bad contractions, but just a couple, so I slept through them. I then woke up at 9 am and was going to do some cleaning before work at noon, but while cleaning I noticed my contractions were realllly hurting. (I had been getting contractions for the past few weeks, but not as painful as these!). I grabbed a notebook and wrote down the times as I felt them. 7 minutes apart is what they started at. I just carried the notebook around as I cleaned, and noticed the times I was writing down were all of a sudden about 4 minutes apart...I called Labor and Delivery to ask them if I should come in, and they just told me to drink a big glass of water, and take a hot shower to try and get my body to relax. Well, I tried, and they got worse it seemed like! I was trying to just push through them, because we've already had a couple false alarms being sent to the hospital, and I didn't want to feel like an idiot again! But I knew I had to do something when I couldn't even stand up straight through the last couple. So I called DJ at work and told him to come get me so we could go to the doctors office and get checked really quick. (I was too nervous to go straight to the hospital...I didn't want to go just to get sent away!) So we got to the dr's at about 12:45, got checked at still a 2-3 cm dilation, and 70-80% effaced. I was so disappointed, because of all the pain I had! But since my contractions were 4 minutes apart, and really painful, they had me go into the hospital. Luckily I packed our hospital bags just in case, because once we got there at around 2:30 they checked me at the same dilation, but 100% effaced, and decided to keep me and break my water! We called my mom to let her know since she was going to be in the room for the delivery, and she made the hour drive into a 30 minute one haha! The contractions got soooo bad, so I got the epidural right after they broke my water (I didn't want to stick around and find out what they would feel like AFTER they broke my water-no thank you!) I was feeling so good after I got it. I was able to just sit and talk to my mom and DJ, and it was really nice, until the nurse had me lay on my right side. It was like all of the epidural went to my right side with the gravity, and I felt everything in my left side...it was HORRIBLE. She came in and checked me at a 4 cm dilation (she said it would probably take about a centimeter an hour) and I had her switch me to my left side so the epi would move back, but it never did! Nope, she left the room, and I continued to feel major pain all on my left half. Finally I felt a lot of pressure, like there was a head between my legs! So I was like "Umm we need the nurse back in here." She came in (a half hour after she last came in) and checked me-I went from a 4 to a 10 in a half hour! And boy, did I feel it! (well, on my left side). Next thing I knew, the doc came in, and I started pushing! I pushed about 4 times, then the baby's heart rate was all over the place, so the doctor used a vacuum to help get him out faster. Then with one more push, Jack was out, and in our world! 6lbs 9oz, 20 1/2 inches long, and perfect!! DJ and I are soo in love with him, and we couldn't be happier =-))) I'll make my next post a bunch of pictures for everyone!

Monday, November 8, 2010

Well, last weekend I had some really bad back pain and cramps, so I called the doc on monday because they continued. They had me go into labor and delivery (I decided I hate calling to ask questions while I'm this late in the pregnancy, because all they tell me is to go to the hospital, which is more money out of our pocket just be sent home!) So we went, and found out that I was dilated to a 1 (I had last been checked a few days before that as not dilated, and 70 % effaced) So the nurse said that's probably why I felt all the pain through the weekend and all day that day. We went home, and I had my doctor's appointment on Wednesday last week (2 days after the hospital visit) and found out I am now 2 cm dilated and that things are moving right along! That was last Wednesday, so I'm sure I'm even more dilated by now! My appointment is on Thursday for my 38 week check up, if we even make it 'till then (my contractions have been getting worse and closer together when I have them, so I'm hoping that means something!) The doctor says I could have him any day, but I have a feeling the baby is going to be stubborn and not come 'till his due date! (hopefully not after though!) But I at least figure with all this pain that I'm having, that my body is that much more ready for the big day! So that's all the news so far. Here is a pic I took Sunday (I was 37 1/2 weeks)
